SING TO ME CDS
Recent research indicates that preschoolers and kindergarten-aged children develop a greater capacity to concentrate when they are introduced to music and singing early. Music and singing can also have a positive influence on their language development, memory, visual and listening skills. These are critical building blocks for children as they develop their daily skills and abilities.
Singing can also help children to rest and relax, reducing the negative stress and anxiety that affects all young people at times. Dr. Michaela Glockler, MD, a well-known paediatrician and researcher in Switzerland, noted that "The more we establish a joyful rhythmic organisation to their [a child's] day and evening before bed, it is more possible to have a peaceful, ‘rest-filled’ sleep." She stated further, "...singing lullabies before bed supports our children emotionally, helping him or her towards balance and peace."
LifeSkills4Kids takes the value of singing seriously. That's why we've identified and created a range of sing-to-me CDs, often a complement to books for greater reinforcement and teaching. They can be used to teach children positive coping techniques, and strategies to help them manage stress and anxiety. They can be particularly useful for children with sensory processing challenges.
Our CDs include fun, playful songs that help children learn to regulate their internal ‘engines’ and cope more appropriately with external stimuli and stressors. They provide songs for greater alertness and songs for calming down. Information for teachers, parents and therapists will help them choose the most appropriate songs to support behaviours such as self-regulation. Test Drive – the Book and CD Set is one example of LifeSkills4Kids’ products that can help children develop healthy, positive responses to external stimuli and stress.
Music is a valuable component of the learning process for children, and it is important to choose music and CDs that reinforce positive behaviours. Our occupational therapists and experts have gathered together some of the best CDs from around the world and included them on our website. They are essential tools to supplement teaching, whether you’re a parent, a teacher, or a therapist.
Check out our CDs and help your child get the rhythm going to have fun as they learn!
